Abstraction means something that is a bit crazy and creative and something eye catching and draws attention to there work. I also think it means the freedom of exploring into your work and making it as creative as possible also i think it means looking into the formal elements for example: line, shape, form, texture, pattern, colour and space.
Line-can be vertical, horizontal, curved or jagged. Shape-every photo contains some type of shape whether it is an object or if it is a reflection and the reflection has made some type of shapes. Form-form is created by shadows and highlights on an object in the photograph. Texture-the quality of the surface of an object. Pattern-The patterns of lines ,shape, and tone all make a photo interesting. Space-Is the space or area were your main object or focus is. Colour-they use colour to make the photo more life like
This photo is a example of all the formal elements and here are the list of elements that has been used... Line-there are many different types of lines there are not many straight lines as most of the lines are swirly lines and i think this makes the photo more creative as you don't know were the lines start or were the lines finish. shape-there are many different shapes in this photo for example circles and squares. Light-on the bottom right side of the photo there is a light patch this could be because a light could be reflecting onto the photo. repetition- there is a use of repetition through out this photo for example the shapes of the light bulb and it also overlaps each other and the use of paper clips to make a pattern. Focus-the focus of this photo is the lightbulbs and they stand the most out to me as it is the most light patch on the photo. Space-there is not much space in this photo at all.
Abstract photos ....
In todays lesson we had to go around the school at take abstract photos using the formal elements. In todays lesson I changed up the style of my photos as I have focused on more of the objects then anything else. In this photo I have captured the formal elements for example Line, Light and space.
My formal element photos ....
In todays lesson I had to go round the school and take photos using the formal elements. I like taking photos just using the formal elements because you don't have to focus on a object that much you just focus on light, shape, line, focus, colour and tone. When I Went round the school today I was mainly focusing on lines and colour. In todays lesson I took my photos in a different way as I usually focus on an object but today I didn't really focus on the object but more of the lines, colour and light.
Out of all the photos today this I my most best photo I took. I think this photo is successful because it is not just focused on one object and it has captured a lot of the formal elements for example Light, Lines, shape and colour. I think this photo is a abstract photo because it is a creative and eye catching photo also because I have looked into the formal elements and not on a object.
In todays lesion we had been given a photo but turned over and we was not allowed to see what was on the other side we had to focus on Shapes,Lines,Coloure and texture. We had to cut out some shapes and place them in a random order we was not allowed to think to much about how and where the shapes were being placed. The shapes that I used were triangles, squares and I used straight lines I only had a little piece of colour and it was green and blue and I placed it on the bottom of my piece of paper one I placed everything I placed a plain piece of paper on top and I flipped it and stuck them down
homework...
For my homework me and Amy went around the park to take 29 Abstract photos I also took some photos about things in my house hold and things around my school i focus on the formal elements such as colour, line, shape and focus.
This is one of my best photos that I took for my homework because has examples off the formal elements for example line, colour, focus.
Patric lears
How would you describe the image? I would describe this image as an abstract and imaginative this photo also looks very complex and busy. This photo is also very appealing. I would also say that this photo is lively and not plain and boring its got a bit of life to it as it is not just in black and wight.
What would you call it? If I was to name the photo I would call it the photogram. I think this photo is more of a photogram because of the composition. and the way it is set out.
How do you think this photo was created? I think this photo was made by Patric cutting out some photos and stuck the cut outs on a peace of coloured paper and cut holes on the top layer of paper so it makes the colure show through. What do you think of the composition? I think the composition is very well assembled and abstract and I think the back ground is very monochrome.
What about the colour? I think that the colour makes the photo more vibrant. The use of yellow, orange and blue brings the photo to life so its not so boring in black and wight.
My Abstract photo book (home work)
For my 8 week homework project we have to make a abstraction photo book. I have chose 20 photos I want to use for my book. After I have choose my 20 photos I have to print them off and start to make my book. I will make my book by sticking them or printing them onto coloured paper and them put it all ion one as a book.
I have chosen these 20 photos because they are my best photos I have took at the moment. I like these photos and I have chosen these photos because they all contain the formal elements for example
light
colure
shape
line
Saul Leiter...
Here are some of Saul Leiter's photos, I choose these photos as I like the style of his work for example I like how he has based his photos on the reflections through windows and how he has blurred out the background and has not left anything in focus. In servral of his photographs he has bright colour and light. I am also drawn to how Leiter has used fog and a steam from the windows and also the rain drops to blur out the photos.
This is my most favourite photo from Saul Leiter's as I like the style of his work. I like how he has blurred out the image and that you can not tell what is going on in the background. what I thought was unusual about this photo was how he had blurred out the photo. Saul Letter's has used serval of the formal elements but the one that stood out to me was the use of colour and the different type of shades of colours for example down at the bottom of the photo you can see there is a dark shade of colour and when you scan to the top of the photo the colour gets brighter and lighter.
My photos inspired by Saul Leiter...
These photos were taken from inspiration by Saul Leiter. while taken theses photos I focused on reflections.
